IPMAP 2023: Hoera!

Grafein is a Dutch foundation to promote graphic arts. IPMAP is the acronym for Grafein’s International Postcard Mail Art Project. Each year, graphic artists from all over the world are invited to make a print on postcard format: 10 x 15 cm (landscape or portrait) that fits to the theme of that year. The accepted prints are published in an on-line and in a printed catalogue. Furthermore, there is at least one exposition of all prints. Last year (2022), 290 prints from over 30 countries where exhibited in Amsterdam. Last year’s theme was “Meeting up”. It is fascinating to see how so many artists from many different cultures dealt with that theme – just take a look at the online-catalogue from 2022.

“Hoera!”

This year, the theme is “Imagine”. It inspired me to make the small print above – it refers to the imagination that is required to establish an affective, loving bond between a human and a doll. The image-size equals 146 x 96 mm: when the print is cut to postcard-size; a small white frame remains around the image.

Printed with an edition of 11 (including a cut version for Grafein) on sheets of 23 x 18 cm of 250 grs St. Cuthbert’s Somerset Satin White. For sale at only € 95.-.
